Security Supervisor Skills Course

Purpose
This vocational qualification is designed to enable candidates acquire a range of skills and knowledge and competencies in the fields of supervision and team leadership in the private security industry.

This vocational qualification was developed for those wishing to progress their career. its purpose is to equip the candidate with the skills and knowledge required to assist with the delivery of a professional service. On successful completion candidates will work effectively as a supervisor or team leader in a range of diverse, team oriented security environments. The skills and knowledge acquired are designed to build on existing experiences and activity of those engaged in the area of operational security. Formal certification will define those individuals, thus enhancing employability and personal progression.

Those who acquire the qualification are entitled to apply for membership of the Institute.

Duration and Dates
The course commences on Wednesday 24th May 2017 for four weeks, dates are Wednesday 24th and 31st May and Wednesday 7th and 14th June 2017. Times are 09-30 to 17-00hrs each day. This is a mentored distance learning course and these sessions include workshops, group discussions and mock exercises. Other acquisition options such as Recognition of Prior Learning and Direct Assessment are also available; please contact the office for more information on these non-classroom options.

Assessment
The course is assessed by way of a 3,000 word project; candidates have twelve weeks to complete this project.

Supports
A comprehensive manual is provided; this includes a suite of templates. Candidates will also be provided with study and assessment guidelines and a project formatting template.

Certification
Successful completion leads to an Advanced Certificate in Security Supervisor Skills. This Certificate is issued by the security industry sector body for education and training, the Security Institute of Ireland.

Cost
The course fee is €495-00 per person (Individual Members and Corporate Members €445-00). This includes all course notes and examination fees. Tea / coffee and a light lunch are provided each day. Flexible payment terms can be arranged. Credit card payments or part payment / deposit also accepted. The course fee is the same for all acquisition options.
