Applying for membership

Membership is granted to any person who, on application, is recommended by a member of the institute and satisfies the board of governors that:

They have been engaged full time as a security practitioner for at least three years, and meets the required standard of knowledge and capability as set by the institute.

Or, that they are a member of a similar or other professional body as may be approved by the board.

To apply for membership please contact the Institute in the first instance.

Admission to member category is normally by examination and relevant experience, it is accepted, however, that applicants who have proven their ability through long experience may be exempt from the examination. For applicants under thirty years of age, qualification by examination is obligatory.

Members may carry the appropriate initials after their name.

Fellowship Member - F. Sec.I.I.

Honorary Life Member - L.M. Sec.I.I.

Member - M. Sec.I.I.

Associate Member

Student Member
